Waves music therapy cic
Waves Music Therapy was founded in 2013 by music therapists Victoria Hartkemeyer and Kirsten Halliday. We are now a registered Community Interest Company (CIC #9320903) with a team of 10 therapists who work across the county of West Sussex in settings as far reaching as neonatal to end of life care. We are based in the coastal village of East Preston and work across the county.
Our aim is to make music therapy services, that are delivered by our qualified, experienced HCPC registered therapists accessible to all individuals who will benefit from this important intervention
The evidence supports what we see in our work daily, that music therapy is a powerful intervention- a non-verbal, non-threatening means of communicating, of playing, of building relationships and processing feelings in a safe, therapeutic environment.
It is a means of communication, a way of making connections, of self expression and play and, as we share throughout our site, the research and evidence base in to the efficacy of music therapy is continually growing.
At Waves Music Therapy we offer individual and group music therapy sessions in schools, care homes, hospices, the NHS and through our private practices here in West Sussex and across the UK.
The therapists who work with Waves Music Therapy are all trained to Masters level, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), have full background disclosure checks, are members of the British Association of Music Therapy (BAMT) and have many years of clinical experience.
We offer assessment sessions and consultation. We also run staff training in the principles of music therapy.
Waves are based near to Worthing in West Sussex. We have a studio space near to Littlehampton and work across the county and are the first music therapy service run by experienced therapists in the county.
If you would like to discuss music therapy sessions for yourself, a family member, your school, or day centre or hospice, please get in touch. We would be delighted to talk to you.
